Michelle Lynn Monaghan (born March 23 1975) is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles in the films Kiss Bang Bang (2006), Gone Baby Gone (2007, Made of Honor (2008)), Trucker (2008) and Source Code (2011). The actress has also been recognized for her performance as Julia Meade in the action spy film series Mission: Impossible, appearing in Mission: Impossible III (2006), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011), and Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018).On TV, Monaghan starred as Maggie Hart in the debut season of the anthology crime drama series True Detective (2014), where she earned nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the drama series The Path (2016), she played the role as Sarah Lane. Monaghan played Eva Geller in the 2020 Netflix thriller series Messiah The show was cancelled after one season. Monaghan was the child of Sharon Hammel (a factory worker) in Winthrop. Bob and John are her two elder brothers. Monaghan is mostly of Irish and German heritage and was raised Catholic.She graduated from East Buchanan High School in 1994. Following graduation, Monaghan moved to Chicago to pursue a degree in journalism, before pursuing modeling. Models have also appeared in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as the United States. There was only one semester left to finish her journalism course in 1999, she made the move to New York to pursue an acting career. She became a model, appearing in several catalogs and magazines, before making her acting debut. The first two TV appearances, as a support role, were as Caroline Busse in episodes of Young Americans, which aired in 2000. Her second television appearance was on Law & Order: Special Victims Unified in "Consent", which aired on January 19, 2001. Also, Monaghan made her debut on screen in Perfume in 2001 as Henrietta. Her next film, again with a supporting part and in 2002 in Unfaithful in which she starred Richard Gere and Diane Lane.
