Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actor and singer with Irish origin. The passionate, fiery roles she appeared in range of American films were admired by the green-eyed beauty , with fiery hair and flaming eyes. Her beautiful and glamour was highly praised and she was known as the 'Queen of Technicolor in Hollywood. Her character onscreen was a reflection of her strong, courageous spirit that struggled for survival and recognition in a world dominated by males. She was always a "tough Irish lass" who did not compromise her respect and reputation to land the roles she wanted through merit. She stood up for injustices and unfair treatment of women actors throughout her film career and earned many supporters. Her autobiography, 'Tis Sheself", which was released in 2004, gave an honest and unfiltered story of her entire life's events, as well as her struggle to climb the ladder of success. She was an adventurous person who did not hesitate to performing her own stunts. She was an actress in more than 60 films in the past and enjoyed a lot of international fame. She got married in 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former air force pilot brigadier and chief who was a pioneer in transatlantic aviation. She finally retired after few years of marriage. However, her happiness was not long-lasting as Blair passed away in a tragic plane crash in the year 1978. She was also diagnosed with uterine cancer the same year. She underwent an immediate procedure. The cancer eventually cleared. The health of her declined as time went by and she was later diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six short-term memory loss, as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. On October 24, 2015 O'Hara passed away peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
