Mena Alexandra Suvari Bio
Mena Alexandra (born 13 February 1979 in New York) is an American model and actress. When she began her modeling career She quickly moved into acting. She was a guest on roles on the television shows Boy Meets World (90s) and High Incident (90s). In 1997 she made her film debut in the dramatic Nowhere. Through her performances in American Beauty (for which she was nominated for an award called a BAFTA Award) and American Pie (both of which earned more attention) She made the move to major roles. She also appeared in Loser (2000) alongside Jason Biggs, her American Pie co-star. In the following years, she was the lead part in Sugar & Spice (2001). She was also in Spun, an independent drama, as well as Trauma, a thriller. In 2004 she was nominated for the Best Cast Award at the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Suvari was also featured in Day of the Dead, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the film adaptation of The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been mentioned in fashion magazines, blogs as well as in ads on print for Lancome Paris Adaptive. Suvari is an activist and a long-time patron of the prestigious African relief organization, the African Medical and Research Foundation. She is actively involved in the issue of female empowerment and has been involved in charities that are based on breast cancer, and the "End Violence against Women Campaign".
