Samantha Ponder Bio
Samantha Ponder, born December 11, 1985, is an American
sportscaster and host of Sunday NFL Countdown (ESPN). Ponder was previously a
host and reporter on ESPN college football, as also a sideline reporter. Ponder was Erin Andrews' replacement on Saturday College
GameDay at 10 AM ET on ESPN. She also hosted the Saturday edition at 9 AM ET of
ESPNU. Ponder was the main reporter for
ESPN's sidelines on Thursday Night College Football, Jesse Palmer and Rece Davis
from August 2012 until 2014. Ponder was
also a regular guest on Longhorn Network, an ESPN-owned channel that is geared
towards Texas. Ponder was born in Phoenix,
Arizona. He was a student at Central High School in Phoenix. After graduating from high school, Ponder attended The
King's College in New York City. She was
living in New York City when she was offered a hostess job for ESPN Zone. There
she came across Ben Keeperman who is a college football coach, researcher, and
coach. This led to her being an intern at the network, which eventually led to
an assistant position as a researcher for ABC-TV's college football studio
show. When Liberty's Senior Sports
Producer Bruce Carey offered her a job as a reporter for the sideline on the
Liberty Flames television network, she moved to Liberty University. She graduated in 2009 and began working as a sideline
reporter for Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports for Pac-10 and Big 12
college football and basketball games. ESPN's
Longhorn Network, July 7 2011, announced that Ponder as its reporter on the
sidelines. Ponder was among three talent
hires made by the company. She also collaborated alongside Lowell Galindo and
Kevin Dunn. Ponder relocated to Austin,
Texas after accepting the Longhorn Network position.
