Lorraine Bracco Biography
Lorraine Bracco, a New Yorker with a deep voice, began
her career in France as model. She later went on to become an actress on films
and television. Bracco's
first feature film appearance in the United States was Ridley Scott's modern
noir "Someone to watch over me" (1987). Bracco was previously in the
role with her soon-to-be husband Harvey Keitel as the Italian crime drama
"Camorra". Her memorable
performance was as a support actor in Martin Scorsese's mob-themed drama
"Goodfellas" (1990), in which she starred alongside Ray Liotta. Following her performance as Elijah Wood's mother in
"Radio Flyer", (1992), she was cast with Sean Connery in
"Medicine Man" which is a jungle adventure. Bracco played the role of the devastated mother of troubled
teenager Tom Carroll (Leonardo DiCaprio) and then she stepped into the role of
Dr. Jennifer Melfi, a psychiatrist on "The Sopranos", an original
crime-drama (HBO 1999-2007). Following her
stellar run on the highly acclaimed series she was named the mother of
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) in a regular part on "Rizzoli and
Isles" which is a police procedural. Bracco
performed a range of complex and intelligent characters as Bracco and displayed
a variety that was initially stifled by her Brooklyn accent and beautiful.
